The history of Zijlstraat 62–64 goes back to the Dutch Golden Age. Commissioned by merchant Josephus Coymans and his wife Dorothea Berck, the house was decorated with a rare classicist ceiling painting by Pieter Post – uncovered in perfect condition during the transformation into a hotel in 2019. Once a residence for Haarlem’s trading elite, it now lives on as Hotel 1635: a boutique hotel where centuries of history meet modern comfort, offering guests a stay full of character in the heart of the city.
